Children's Eyecare

Children’s eye care helps to support their development and well-being. With children’s eye problems often being overlooked, it is vital to have regular testing so vision problems can be caught early on.

At our family-friendly practice, we prioritise children’s eye health by making sure that all of our testing, eyewear and treatment work for our young patients.

Kid's Eye Tests

Eye tests are especially important for children, even if they are not complaining of vision loss. Regular testing allows us to catch any problems with their eyes early on making it easier to manage and preventing them from hindering education and development.

We provide free eye tests for children under 16 and teenagers under 19 in full-time education through the NHS with special equipment and testing for different age groups. Get in touch today and we can let you know if your child is due for an eye test.

Glasses For Children

We have a selection of spectacle frames for children designed to be comfortable and hardy.

There’s a wide variety of styles to choose from so kids of different ages can express themselves and feel confident in their glasses.

Our selection includes many different sizes and styles to ensure the fit and look work for all age groups.

Visual Stress & Coloured Overlays

Visual Stress is a term used to describe visual discomfort and perceptual distortions in printed text.

Colour has been known to make improvements to reading speed and accuracy. Colour overlays, tinted glasses, or contact lenses may help enable more extended periods of reading and alleviate discomfort.

The following symptoms indicate you may be suffering from visual stress:

  • Tiring easily when reading

  • Letters changing shape or size

  • Halos of colour surrounding letters

  • Red, sore, watery eyes

  • Blurring of print

  • Patterns on print

Our Optometrist can carry out an overlay assessment and may suggest that the patient try an overlay when reading for a few weeks, noting any improvements.
